I thoroughly enjoyed combining personal training and teaching exercise classes with competing at regional level in track athletics, but a back injury in 2005 made me re-think my approach to exercise. I discovered pilates and haven’t looked back! Pilates is a lifelong discipline, even as teachers we are always learning. I have gradually added barrels, stability chair and cadillac to my repertoire, along with numerous courses for special populations. I am committed to providing the highest quality of teaching and I believe in enjoyable, challenging and achievable exercise to strengthen both body and mind.
My training has involved matwork pilates and ante and postnatal pilates. I am passionate about the work of Joseph Pilates and use pilates every day at work to assist in the rehabilitation of my patients in order to increase strength, reduce imbalances and aid posture, flexibility and alignment. I love to teach classes, pilates has so many benefits for everybody.
I have been practising pilates for the last ten years after developing a back condition in my early twenties. I was determined this was not going to be the end to my love of running, mountain biking and climbing. I fortunately discovered pilates, this has helped improve my flexibility and kept my body strong so that I can keep doing what I love! I have recently trained as a BASI pilates instructor and I am looking forwards to sharing my love for this wonderful school of movement with the rest of the Yorkshire Dales!
